Andrew Hamilton was invited to give a keynote at the Westminster Project’s Westminster Higher Education Policy Forum Conference on 26/02/25, titled ‘Current experiences of disabled students in higher education and priorities for improved support’. In attendance was the head of Disabled Students Allowance (DSA), officials from the Department of Education as well as from the devolved governments, university leaders, the 3rd sector and interest groups. The online conference was chaired by Baroness Meral Hussein-Ece.
Andrew spoke about personal lived experience as a disabled student at university including the positive experience of support but also the challenges he faced. He also focused on wider policy problems both in terms of higher institutions but also government policy.
