Today (31/03/25) we are pleased to launch our Northern Ireland Programme at our Stormont Launch Event.

What is the Northern Ireland Programme?

The Northern Ireland Programme is our first programme which aims to educate and empower disabled people to use their voices on the issues they care about.

It consists of a handbook breaking down the Northern Ireland Assembly and Executive, in addition to three workshops accompanying workshops that are designed to introduce disabled people to advocacy within the Northern Ireland Assembly/Executive.

The Handbook.

The handbook provides a comprehensive breakdown of the systems and procedures underpinning the Northern Ireland Instituitons.

However it is not designed to be read cover to cover, acting as a reference guide when disabled people are advocating and influencing policy makers.

It has also been developed from the ground up to be applicable to all sectors, not just disability. As although it references and signposts specific disability related information, it still applies to anyone looking to use their voices.

“This comprehensive booklet will be invaluable to ensure disabled people can use their voice on the issues that matters, however the handbook has immense potential not just for the disability sector but for other sectors as well.”

(31/03/25) – Please note: the handbook is missing about half a chapter which will be added soon.

The Workshops.

please note (31/03/25): The series of 3 workshops are still under development, but should be launched by the end of summer 2025.

The Northern Ireland Programme will also consist of 3 accompanying hour long workshops introducing the key concepts, mechanisms and knowledge needed for lobbying in the Northern Ireland Assembly/Executive.

Which alongside the handbook as a reference guide will educate and empower disabled people to campaign on the issues that they are most passionate about.
